Lesson Kits

Lesson kits are available for purchase as either whole kits or as refills.

Order can be placed by filling out our online form.

Note: There are no kits for lessons 4, 9 and 10.

Lesson 1 kit includes:

  • Plastic tote - 15QT/14L
  • 1 inflatable globe
  • 10 jars or containers for beads
  • 1 cup of yellow beads
  • 9 cups of beads in 9 assorted colors
  • 1 pipe cleaner per student
  • 9 station blocks (you will need to add illustrations - see Incredible Journey for directions)
  • 9 laminated station cards
  • 1 laminated station block guide

Lesson 2 kit includes:

  • Plastic Tote 30QT/28L
  • 1 1-liter measuring cup
  • 2 medicine cups (30mL)
  • 1 container of food dye
  • 1 package of salt
  • 6 permanent green markers
  • 6 washable blue markers
  • 6 washable brown markers
  • 6 washable orange markers
  • 6 washable black markers
  • 6 washable red markers
  • 6 plastic trays
  • 6 continuous mist spray water bottles (this specific bottle type is necessary)
  • 6 pieces of art paper

Lesson 3 kit includes:

  • Plastic Tote-6QT
  • 1 container of cocoa powder
  • 2 green topped sponges
    • 1 plain
    • 1 decorated with houses and trees. We used generic plastic board game houses and pieces of diorama trees secured to the sponge with hot glue.
  • 1 piece of balsa wood sprayed black and decorated a road and generic board game houses (any ‘impervious’ materials can be used for this model)
  • 25 red and blue 2-sided colored pencils

Lesson 5 kit includes:

  • 6 Laminated Conservation Practice Fact Sheets
    • 1 Folder
    • 1 Laminated Green Roof
    • 1 Laminated Vegetation Infiltration Basin
    • 1 Laminated Rain Garden
    • 1 Laminated No-Till Agriculture

Lesson 6 kit includes:

  • 1 Plastic tote 30QT/28L
  • 6 Filtering Kits with enough materials to make 2 filters.
    Each has:
    • 7 clear plastic cups
    • ~30 push pins
    • 2 coffee filters
    • 4-6 rubber bands
    • 2 pieces of cheesecloth, approximately 1 square foot
    • 1 piece of fiberglass screen, approximately 4-inch square
    • 1 baggie of approximately 1/2 cup of rinsed activated aquarium filter charcoal (Be very careful when ordering charcoal. High-quality RINSED charcoal is a must).
    • 1 baggie of approximately 1/2 cup of pool filter sand (play sand will not work!)
    • 1 baggie of approximately 1/2 cup of pine pet bedding
    • 1 baggie of approximately 1/2 cup of pea-sized gravel

Lesson 7 kit includes:

  • 1 Plastic tote 15QT/14L
  • 2 clear jars or bottles
  • 6 student data sheets
  • 6 black, fine-tip whiteboard makers
  • 6 small jump rings
  • 1 packet of pH strips
  • 1 results sheet
  • 4 plastic containers for test kits.
  • 1 laminated copy of instructions for each test: dissolved oxygen, nitrate, pH, phosphate, temperature, turbidity. (Assemble booklets for each test on individual jump rings)

    • Dissolved Oxygen kit – small glass container with cap, TesTabs, pipette
    • 1 Phosphate – 1 plastic test tube with cap, TesTabs, pipette

    • 1 pH – 1 plastic test tube with cap, TesTabs, pipette
    • 1 Temperature and Turbidity – Stream Monitoring Kit container with temperature strips and Secchi disk
